An acquaintance of mine browsed through my tumblr using her smartphone, while sitting in front of me, at my favorite coffee shop.
“You have various posts showing your art and some of them have no notes at all. Why do you keep uploading the sketches?!”, the acquaintance says.
“I guess this is a good thing I do art for myself, and not for the notes”, I answer, sipping my iced coffee.
I am really glad when people like my art, I do. But it’s fine, for me, if I don’t have any hits in the ‘heart’ button in some of my sketches. I love making drawings, and it makes me happy. If something I made can also make your day happier, it’s great! But I am not here for being popular. I am here to archive and analise my own work, make new friends, and share my ideas and work. And everybody is free to enjoy - or ignore - it.
Lots of people here on Tumblr are like me. If you are reading this, let me say it: keep doing your art, and your thing. Give the chance to everyone see it - and give the chance to people enjoy, like and/or offer some good criticism about it. Give yourself the chance to improve, learn and be nostalgic about your own work.
